Water and the Word: Roundabout

Exodus 13:18 So God led the people by the roundabout way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea.

Ever feel like your life is filled

with wilderness roundabouts;

like you keep circling ‘round,

repetitiously revisiting

barren places and circumstances?

Ask yourself what,

aside from self,

are the common denominators.

My roundabouts are filled

with water stories:

absence, abundance,

contamination, purification;

and with saints:

people whose hearts and actions

keep circling back to life.

Despite the feel of wilderness,

providence regularly shows up

to point out the next step.
