Water and the Word: Abundant

Like palm groves that stretch far away,

like gardens beside a river,

like aloes that the Lord has planted,

like cedar trees beside the waters.

Water shall flow from his buckets,

and his seed shall have abundant water,

his king shall be higher than Agag,

and his kingdom shall be exalted.

Numbers 24:6-7

Surrounding the world

that society seeks

to convince us

is structured on scarcity,

the cosmos is constantly

reminding us that ours

is a God of abundance.

More than an attitude,

it is a way of life

we desperately need

to recognize and live;

and when we do,

the river fills our buckets

to overflowing,

so we can pour grace

into every person and place

along our path.
